This project has three units that take a look at basic meterology, weather and climate, and water. All three units are tied closely to the Florida Automated Weather Network (FAWN) and the AgClimate web site. The three units are unique to Florida, but all have some general background information as well. In order to take maximum advantage of this project, the participant will need some basic understanding of Excel spreadsheets. Also there are several narriated PowerPoint presentations as well. The student needs to have these software packages available in order to view the presentations and utilize the templates. Other arrangements can be made and a CD containing the information is available as well. On the left hand column the user will find a list of the downloads for each unit.
In order to take mazimum advantage of this project, the participant needs access to the Internet. For some topics an Internet seach is suggested. All of the information for the project can be downloaded from the list on the left side of this web page.
This project looks at some critical issues facing our planet and our state. Unit Two has a section on Global Warming and Unit Three explores water conservation. The participants will be asked to examine both these issues in a critical manner and arrive at some solutions to the problems, assuming the student reaches the conclusion that the issues pose a major challange for mankind and the residents of Florida!
